We’re very sorry to announce that our already once postponed history tour on the Daniel Island Ferry has been postponed. Here’s the message event organizer (and DIHS co-founder) has sent to everyone who had signed up for the cruise:
“After careful consideration by the Daniel Island Historical Society Board of Directors, we regret to inform you that we have decided to cancel our upcoming Robert Daniell Birthday Cruise on August 22. We did not come to this decision lightly, as we know so many of you were looking forward to this very special event. We had hoped postponing the cruise from the previous date in April due to Covid concerns would allow time for the situation to improve. However, with the number of cases and hospitalizations on the rise, we feel it is best – and safest – to cancel, as several of our attendees are in a high risk group for Covid, including our speaker. We also learned from Daniel Island Ferry that we would need to reduce our capacity by about 20 percent due to social distancing recommendations – but the cost for the trip to DIHS would remain about the same. So for both safety and financial reasons, we have decided to cancel. But we hope to be able to offer the trip in April of next year, once again to coincide with Gov. Daniell’s birthday.
Please reply to this email with your address so we can send you a check for a full refund. Thank you, as always, for your support of DIHS! Stay tuned for information on our fall programming, which will feature some virtual presentations and other opportunities for engagement.
Kind regards,
Beth Bush
DIHS Board of Directors”
