Experience the treasured Cainhoy Peninsula through the eyes of local historian and author Suzannah Smith Miles. At this Daniel Island Historical Society program, the first in the organization’s Fall 2014 lecture series, Ms. Miles will share her 20 years of research on the early families of Cainhoy, Daniel Island and the East Cooper area. Learn how their lives were intertwined with Barbados, Massachusetts and Africa and the surrounding areas of Charleston. As Ms. Miles will explain, their influence can still be felt today. Don’t miss what is sure to be an engaging and informative program with one of the Lowcountry’s most intriguing voices on area history! Following her talk, Ms. Miles will be available to sign copies of her latest work, The Islands: Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms, an illustrated coffee-table book on Charleston’s two oldest resort islands, as well as her book The East Cooper Gazette. suzannah smith miles
