One of the continuing battles on the Cainhoy peninsula is to protect the area’s legacy.  And one of the folks leading the fight is Grant Mishoe, a Genealogist and Historical Researcher with the Gullah Society.

Grant will join us, via ZOOM, for our next DIHS meeting, Tuesday May 18 at 7 pm.

Grant has been involved in the ongoing struggle to preserve black graves adjacent to the Old Ruins Cemetery.  It’s a story that’s generated a lot of interest.  For a collection of links to both recent coverage and a longer term perspective go to our DIHS website blog at  https://dihistoricalsociety.com/blog/cainhoy-cemetery-compendium/
