How does our perception and understanding of slavery inform both our view of history and our vision for the future of Daniel Island? We’ll look at those issues at 7pm Tuesday, January 16 at Church of the Holy Cross, 299 Seven Farms Drive when historians Anne Blessing and Josesph McGill lead a discussion on “Historic Preservation and 21st Century Interpretations of Slavery”.

Joe McGill is the driving force behind The Slave Dwelling Project.  Here’s a link to an October profile of McGill from the Charleston City Paper.

Anne Blessing grew up in an antebellum Charleston home.  She has worked with McGill, the Slave Dwelling Project and the Historic Charleston Foundation on a project called Behind the Big House profiled here on NPR.
