Events to Thank DIHS Members

Even though our monthly program meetings are on hold until September, there’s still plenty going on with DIHS. As we’ve mentioned before, we’re focused on showing our appreciation for our dues paying membership….the backbone of ALL of what DIHS does.

The Thursday, June 9 reception at Wellmore is a good example. To see more about it, CLICK HERE.

Other recent events where members had first crack to attend include tours of the Venning Cemetery CLICK HERE and a tour of historic sites on the Charleston Naval Base CLICK HERE.

And as they say on late night cable commercials…”WAIT…THERE’S MORE!” Our next members preference event will be a tour of the grounds of the not yet open International African American Museum, July 28.

The International African American Museum is offering a special Exterior Grounds Tour for the Daniel Island Historical Society on Thursday, July 28th at 4PM.  Considering the building continues to be under construction the museum is limiting the number of participants on this tour to 15. Members of the Daniel Island Historical Society have the first opportunity to sign up for this unique tour.

If you are interested, please respond by email to dihistoricalsociety@gmail.com providing your name, email address and contact phone number.   The first 15 responses will be provided with additional details on the location and timing of the tour.  A $25 donation will be collected from each participant to support the Museum.

ARE YOU A MEMBER? ARE YOU SURE? LOTS OF MEMBERSHIPS LAPSED DURING THE COVID SHUTDOWN OF IN PERSON MEETINGS. IF YOU WANT TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP, CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.
