DIHS “MARKS” THE ISLAND!

A big part of the Daniel Island Historical Society’s mission is community outreach. We do projects ranging from historical trees on the island to History Under The Stars family events. Our outreach to local schools includes things like History Trunks and the annual Philip Simmons Art Shows.
One of our ongoing projects is cooperating with the Daniel Island Company to place historical markers at significant spots on the island.  Chris Hamil, Daniel Island POA Field Operation Manager, getting ready to install one of the new historical markers the Historical Society is sponsoring.
Our two latest contributions highlight the history of local ferries (Corner of Scott and Corn Planters Streets) and the role of the Pritchard shipyard (behind Family Circle on the trail by the water.) 
Like all of the markers we’ve collaborated on these two have a qcr code that, if scanned, will take you to more information on the topic.
