Local newspapers have recently done articles on the two Awards of Merit DIHS recently received from the Confederation of South Carolina Local Historical Societies.
The Charleston City Paper featured “Preserving the history of a changing community” by Herb Frazier.
Frazier’s piece focused on the Award of Merit received for our Cainhoy Collective oral history project before moving on to the award we received for our efforts to clean up and maintain several area cemeteries. The Moultrie News focused a bit more on the Confederation of South Local Historical Societies and why it chose to recognize both the Cainhoy Collective and the cemetery programs. To see the Moultrie News article go to https://www.dropbox.com/s/h4v3j7vs1ljqxx5/Moultrie%20News%20article.jpg?dl=0
In addition to chairman Dick Porter, the Cemetery Committee included Jude Wagner, Sr, Diane Lesko and Hugh Haynsworth.
