The Daniel Island Historical Society Board is a dedicated group working hard behind the scenes to deliver on our mission statement: “To preserve and promote the rich and unique history of both Daniel Island and the greater Cainhoy peninsula for the benefit of the community by engaging in advocacy for historical preservation and sharing the area’s “story” with both residents and visitors.” And we’re pleased and proud to introduce two new members to the group.
JOY KELLY
If you’ve been involved in our project to adopt the Island’s Grand Oaks you may already know Joy Kelly. She and her husband Kevin took over the program in January and are doing a magnificent job. Her addition to the Board of Directors will bring her years of experience as an educator to the leadership of DIHS and help keep the Adopt Tree Program thriving.

BOB MORGAN
Our second new board member in Bob Morgan. Bob will serve in an at large role on the board as he becomes more familiar with DIHS’ wide range of programs. His has long experience with the USDA National Forest Service and retired several years ago from a role as Heritage Program Manager, Francis Marion & Sumter National Forests. He has expertise in both archaeology and anthropology.
Another great addition to the DIHS board.
