Arbor Day a Big Success!

Technically, Arbor Day is Friday, April 26 but Daniel Island got off to an impressive early start in partnership with The Daniel Island Neighborhood Association and the Charleston Parks Conservancy. The day featured tree walks and tree identification sessions punctuated by lunch and a presentation by DIHS President Beth Bush sharing the agricultural history and innovations of Martha Daniell Logan.

Plus…150 trees were given away to participants. Also in attendance, Joy and Kevin Kelly who coordinate our Live Oak Adoption program.

Co-sponsor DINA declared the day a great success: “Way to go, DI! All 150 free trees were picked up, and DI residents showed up in great numbers for the speakers, tree education and interactive walk. The Daniel Island Historical Society was a GREAT partner as was Charleston Parks Conservancy. We look forward to doing more and more with these great organizations!”
