200 years ago it would have been highly unlikely for Joe McGill and Anne Blessing to share a stage. It would have been more likely that Blessing’s family owned McGill’s. But in 2018 McGill and Blessing shared that stage and shared their perspectives on slavery with the Daniel Island Historical Society. We had a good turnout for Tuesday’s DIHS program as McGill and Blessing shared their experiences and observations on Charleston’s legacy of slavery that still has physical reminders in today’s world. Blessing and McGill worked together on last Fall’s Beyond the Big House tour featured by NPR
