2018…A VERY GOOD YEAR!

We obviously try to have every meeting be educational, informative and enjoyable. No one bats 1.000 but we came pretty close in 2018.

Here’s a quick review of our meeting topics….which did you enjoy the most?

February 20, 2018      ”Bricks….Building Charleston’s Past and Present”  speaker Southwick “Cary” Briggs of the College of American Building Arts.                   

March 20, 2018 “Homes of the Lord Proprietors and Governors of Carolina speaker Robert Stockton of the College of Charleston.

April 17, 2018                 “A Handsome Assortment of the Newest Fashions:  The Businesswomen of Antebellum King Street” speaker Amanda Mushal of The Citadel.

May 20, 2018                 “10 Things Everyone Should Know About Lowcountry History” speaker Nic Butler of the Charleston County Library.

NO DIHS EVENTS JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST 2018

September 27, 2018    “The Civil War As Seen Through Magnolia Cemetery” speaker Kyle Sinisi of The Citadel.

October 13-14, 2018    History Under the Stars Family Campout at Smythe Park…pirate themed family event.

October 16, 2018         “The Transatlantic Slave Trade,  Historic connections between Ghana and South Carolina” speaker Rebecca Shumway of the College of Charleston.

November 15, 2018    “Nathanael Greene and the American Revolution”,  speaker:  Leigh Moring of the Historic Charleston Foundation.
